Welcome to Ronald Reagan Elementary School, home of the "Regal Eagles"! Our school was dedicated on October 11, 2006, with Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack in attendance, where a beautiful letter from Nancy Reagan was read, encouraging our students to live her late husband's dream of making this a better world.
Reagan Elementary is the largest elementary school in Desert Sands, and this year, our vibrant learning community includes approximately 810 students from TK/Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are proud of our many accolades, including recognition as a California Distinguished School in 2010 and 2020. We were also named a California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School in 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2018. In 2016, we received the California Gold Ribbon School Seal, the California Model Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) School award, and were recognized as a Title I Achieving School. For the past nine years, we have proudly been both a Common Sense School and a Kindness Certified School. Reagan was named an Imagine Nation School of Excellence in 2021 and 2024, a Silver Level PBIS Implementation School in 2021, and a California Pivotal Practice School by the California Department of Education in 2022. Most recently, from 2023 onward, Reagan has been named a California Education Results Partnership Honor Roll School every year, and in 2024 and 2025, we achieved California PBIS Gold Level Recognition.
Reagan is also a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) school, offering one TK DLI class and two DLI classrooms in Grades K-5. Students in this program are becoming biliterate in both Spanish and English. Since 2020, Reagan has been designated an AVID elementary school, with all classrooms utilizing AVID instructional strategies and practices.
With a motto of "learning today, leading tomorrow," Reagan Elementary embraces all our students, supporting them in a nurturing and caring environment. Students are daily challenged to meet the rigorous California State Standards as they create their own brilliant futures. The entire Reagan Elementary learning community recognizes each child's potential and their valuable contribution to our school as a whole. Our students are taught by a dynamic and experienced team of caring professionals, utilizing 21st-century tools, including Chromebook computers for all students. Our dedicated parents/guardians, volunteers, and community partners provide daily support and interaction with our learners. Their regular involvement contributes to a wonderful joint venture between home, school, and community, benefiting all children at Reagan Elementary.
In addition to our rigorous academic program, students at Reagan benefit from a wide variety of extracurricular experiences and community partnerships that routinely enhance the quality, breadth, and depth of each child's educational journey. Our amazing partnerships with the community include: Mini-Muster with the Palm Desert Fire Department and Palm Desert Historical Society, McCallum Theatre Institute - Aesthetic Education Program, Smile Factory, Rotary Club, Kiwanis International, and our local Chamber of Commerce and City governments. Additional school engagement opportunities include partnerships with Acrisure Arena, home of the Firebirds, Pinot’s Pallet, Art’s Flying Aerial, Old Town Artisans, and Right at School. Our collective and total commitment to all our children makes Ronald Reagan Elementary School an excellent community of learners, achieving together.
