Principal's Message

Mark Baldwin, Principal

Welcome to Ronald Reagan Elementary School, home of the "Regal Eagles." Our school was dedicated October 11, 2006, with Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack in attendance. A beautiful letter written by Nancy Reagan was read at the ceremony, encouraging all the children to live with her late husband's dream of making this a better world. Reagan Elementary has quickly grown.

This year, our diverse learning community includes over 800 students in grades TK/K through 5, including a Dual Language Immersion Spanish/English for students in grades K through 2. In 2010 & 2020, the school received recognition as a "California Distinguished School." While in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2016 we were named a California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School. In 2016 Reagan received the California Gold Ribbon School Award, Title I Achievement Award, and Model Fitness and Nutrition Award. In 2018, the school was named a Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll School. From 2015-2021, Regan has been a Kindness Certified School. Finally, in 2019, Reagan became and remains an AVID Elementary School. With a motto of "learning today, leading tomorrow," we strive to instill our 4-Rs of Responsibility, Respectfulness, Resiliency, and Risk-Taking to develop global 21st century citizens.

Reagan Elementary embraces all of our students, supporting them in a nurturing and caring environment. Students are challenged daily to meet the rigorous Common Core State Standards as they create their own brilliant futures. The entire learning community of Reagan Elementary recognizes each child's potential and contribution to our whole.

Students attending Reagan are taught by a dynamic and experienced team of caring professionals, utilizing 21st century tools, including Chromebooks or tablets for every student. Each classroom employs research based educational strategies to ensure that all students are prepared not only for middle school but beyond.

We work to ensure that each child is given the competency necessary to become a lifelong learner and responsible contributing citizen. Our parents/guardians, volunteers, and community partners, help provide the support and interaction, through their regular involvement, that contributes to a wonderful joint venture between home, school and community, benefiting all the children at Reagan Elementary.

In addition to our regular rigorous academic program, students at Reagan benefit from a wide variety of extracurricular experiences and community partnerships that routinely enhance the quality, breadth, and depth of each child's educational experience. Partnerships with the community include: La Quinta Arts Foundation (4th and 5th grade fine art enrichment), Tools for Tomorrow - A Program in the Arts, Mini-Muster with PD Fire Department and Palm Desert Historical Society, McCallum Theatre Institute - Aesthetic Education Program, Rotary International - Interact Club (Student Government). We also enjoy community relationships with Borrego Health, Smile Factory, Animal Samaritans, Kiwanis International, Galilee Center, Guide Dogs of the Desert, and our local Chamber and City governments.

We have multiple after school programs and extracurricular activities in partnership with the YMCA, Desert Recreation District. Additionally, there are intramural sports activities in Football and Basketball, and academic programs: Battle of the Books, Science Fair, Math Field Day, Robotics, and Scripps Spelling Bee.

Our collective and total commitment to all of our children makes Ronald Reagan Elementary School an excellent community of learners, achieving together. Please feel free to stop by for a visit, call or e-mail.
